2021 Spring Newsletter
Spring is upon us. This is our time to shine and do what we do best. It has been interesting times for all of us, but we all managed and continued to provide quality products, services, maintenance to customers and clients.
We still have an obligation and responsibilities to follow CDC guidelines and make sure we keep our employees and customers safe.
The WNLA Board of Directors are proactively previewing our strategic plan that was approved in 2020 to put in place some metrics, so the objectives and actions of the plan are met with adequate timelines.
Our virtual Spring Startup (conference) that was held back in January was well received by members, so we will look at providing at least a few virtual events throughout the year.
The good news is that we will have two in person events within the next four months. The first event will be held on Monday, June 28th at the newly named American Family Ballpark when the Brewers will host the Cubs. Tickets are now on sale and this will be a nice opportunity for us to network and take a break from our hectic time out in the field. The second event will be our golf outing which will be held on Tuesday, August 24th. This is always a fun filled day amoungst fellow peers and collegues in the profession.
Lastly, WNLA is getting requests to serve and participate on many state councils and committees and we ask that if you have any interest in participating that you reach out to me or the office. Along those lines, we are looking for members to serve on committees within the association. Please contact the WNLA staff team, so they can find a spot for you on one of our committees.
As always, I thank you for all you do for the betterment of the industry. I appreciate you and please reach out to us anytime as we want your membership experience to be exceptional.
Best regards,
Seth

Woodie Evergreen Plant of the YearStar Power tm Juniper (Juniperus x ‘J.N. Select Blue’)

Zone: 3-9 Height: 15"-18' Spread: 7-9' Sun: Full
Juniper Star Power (Juniperus x 'JNBlue Select') is a hybrid between Juniper communis and Juniper chinensis. The foliage resembles Blue Star, but the overall color has a mix of green and blue and some waxiness to the needle. The needles are short and arranged in the formation of a star - especially the newest growth. Fall dormancy adds some purplish color to the foliage. It's an excellent, fast growing Juniper with a nice narrow shape that is somewhat broader at the base. These plants can grow about a foot or more in a season. It was introduced by Johnson's Nursery in Menomonee Falls, WI.
Shade Perennial (Herbaceous) Plant of the YearSpring Symphony Foamflower (Tiarella x Spring Symphony PP12397)

Zone: 3-9 Height: 7-10" Spread: 5-10" Sun: Full
This reblooming, clump-forming variety blooms in spring, producing 15-inch spires densely packed with pink blossoms. Its deeply cut foliage is compact, with black markings along the midrib. Plants grow to about 10 inches tall and wide.Tiarellas are at home in moist woodland environments. In the garden they make wonderful carpets of intricate leaves. Grow 'Spring Symphony' as a groundcover or edger in a shady border or woodland garden. Tiarellas are great foils to early spring bulbs.
